Current volunteer opportunities:
Help drive/deliver contract meals
Throughout the pandemic, Stone Soup transformed from a brick and mortar restaurant to a production kitchen which distributes meals to programs that need them. This is a weekly volunteer opportunity consists of picking up meals from Stone Soup and dropping them off to our site partners. The deliveries will come in 2-3 boxes typically. Volunteers will arrive at Stone Soup to load the boxes into the car and then will be off for delivery. The total volunteer time for completing the delivery trip is around one hour, though some locations are closer.
Come get your hands dirty in the Garden
Stone Soup is excited to partner with Grow Portland to offer a fun, hands-on, outdoor volunteer opportunity. Come help out weekly on most Sundays, at Harrison Park Community Garden. Here we will meet for 2 hours, from 10-12, where we perform basic garden upkeep while getting a chance to reconnect to the basics of our food system. Stone Soup Volunteers set up a raised bed for our chefs and participants to be able to grow local produce for the community we serve! Here, we hope to reap the rewards of our volunteer work all while providing equitable access to garden education and locally grown goods.

Come Celeb at Stone Soup and host a workshop.
Have a background in food or culinary arts? If you have any specialty skills around food and are interested in being involved from a culinary standpoint, either through a workshop or maybe a celebrity special recipe, feel free to reach out so we can continue the conversation.
Seeking one computer savvy volunteer to help our culinary team
With every meal we send to shelters, we include our menu sheets. These are updated weekly to reflect current numbers and dietary restrictions, and are the main tool our kitchen staff uses when packing meals. Putting together the meal sheets takes between 1 to 2 hours a week. By having a volunteer help with this work, it frees up our kitchen staff to do what they do best: COOKING! If you have a couple extra hours per week and know your way around a Google Doc, you just might be our next Meal Sheet Hero!
